Day One - July 10th

A smooth start to the trip was disrupted by lost baggage in Bangkok Airport; fortunately, a two hour wait saw the baggage retrieved and the team on their way to a guesthouse in Bangkok for a night before travelling on to Jakarta early tomorrow morning.

The boys took the time to pose at the airport before playing some touch in the baggage hall.

Day Two - July 11th

An early start to the day at 0430 was made more bearable with breakfast and a much quicker trip to Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok.  Some rather significant immigration queues saw the squad only just make their flight as the doors were shutting and begin the  journey to Jakarta, Indonesia.

The trip to Jakarta and onto the team hotel was smooth and the squad is settled into an excellent venue for the team to prepare for their games.  The day ended with a short training run at the match venue in anticipation of a 2PM kick-off tomorrow against Cambodia.

Lao PDR v Cambodia (Mekong Cup)

A sun-drenched and breezy UPH stadium in Karawaci, Jakarta saw the Lao PDR take on Cambodia.  In a fast moving game, the Lao PDR put on a performance that mesmorised the crowd and the opposition.  With some slick handling and strong running, the Lao PDR scored a 33 - 0 victory to take the Mekong Cup onto Lao soil for the first time.

Day Four - July 13th

Recovery Day

An early start to the day saw a hearty breakfast followed by a pool recovery session.  The plan for the day is to relax and to get out any aches and pains from the tough game against Cambodia.  A trip to a local shopping mall and cinema is planned for the afternoon before the squad starts to work on the build up to the Indonesia match on the 15th.

Build-Up

A morning session with the IRB gave the squad the opportunity to learn about the new laws that they will be bringing in worldwide from the 1st August.  A leisurely lunch saw the team start to work towards an evening training session at the match venue.  Once the session was over, the team attended a viewing of their game against Cambodia.  The Indonesia game kicks off at 1600 tomorrow.
