Individuals, clubs, businesses, schools and community groups continue to find innovative ways to support the LRF through fundraising and sponsorship initiatives that ensure the LRF is able to continue offering participation opportunities.

You too can support the LRF in a number of ways:

•By ensuring your local rugby community knows about the LRF. Get people to look at the website and to understand more about rugby development at the grassroots level in Asia. The LRF also has a network of past volunteers around the world, please contact us if you would like someone to contact you to talk more about the work of the Federation. Also, encourage your local rugby club to link to the LRF website.

•By encouraging your friends/colleagues/clubs to undertake fundraising activities for the LRF. A small donation can make a huge difference. For example, Lock, Stock and Barrel, an Australian company, held a fundraising lunch with all proceeds passing on to the LRF. These funds made a huge impact on outreach and ensured the Lao PDR National Team was able to attend an international competition.

•Sponsor a player. Your support could ensure that a National Team player is able to attend training, buy equipment and perform to the best of his or her abilities. Please contact us if you would like more information.

•Sponsor a school. Your support can ensure that a school is able to have regular coaching support and play in regular competitions. Please contact us if you would like more information.

•Attending competitions or come on tour. A practical way to support rugby in the Lao PDR is to bring a touring team to visit either for individual matches against local opposition or attending the Vientiane International Tens competition. Playing against international competition helps local talent to develop and it often fosters strong reciprocal links. We also encourage visiting teams to get involved in school and community coaching.

•Donate your old kit. Old boots, balls and playing kit are a valuable resource as they are often too expensive for the LRF to purchase in the quantities required. A number of successful initiatives have been undertaken in the past to support the LRF in this way. However, it is also important that any collections are supported by a local delivery company as delivery can often be expensive; however, local freight companies are often willing to help out local groups.
